| last night i spent the better part of two hours putting elijah back in his bed. the door to his bedroom won't close all the way and i was getting so upset. i decided that it was better for me to hold the door closed than to keep getting more and more angry. it was awful. he kept sobbing "open the door daddy" and knocking on the door saying "knock knock momma daddy," crying the whole time. this continued for about 45 minutes. i think it was the hardest thing i've had to do as a father. it broke my heart.
but now it's morning and all is better. i'm just really tired with a massive headache. |

| i miss skateboarding. i miss feeling cool. i now feel a distinct lack of cool (hah!). perhaps that's just part of being a parent. maybe you start to feel uncool long before your kids start to tell you that you are. anyway, i really do miss skating. i really need to skate again or start a new physical hobby. i may try my hand at racket ball (seeing as we have paid money for a ymca membership). does any- one feel like tearing up a parking block with me? or looking like a fool trying to learn racket ball?
school starts on monday: calculus, historical geology, GIS, and quantitative geosciences. calculus is the only one that makes me nervous. i'll be fine.
i miss my bakersfield friends and my brothers. anyone want to come visit?

| i really don't like olive garden commercials. or most commercials. i finished summer school on top and i'm on a 4 day vacation from work right now. i'm in the process of chopping down the jungle that has taken over our back yard behind our new house (which is old and falling apart). i'm a little sleepy...
